March Leapfrog Conference on Creating Low Carbon Communities attended by 2 members
May 2 members made a presentation to Broadland District Council
May Report commissioned by WESG from the Low Carbon Innovation Centre based at the UEA presented to the village at our third AGM. Gave us valuable information about how to reduce the village's carbon footprint and save money.
Took part in a short film produced by Halesworth Middle School about local environmental issues.
September Forum on PV cells, giving advice and information. Led to 5 households going ahead with installations before the Dec. 12th deadline, and others considering it.
November Borrowed a thermal camera, surveyed 22 buildings including the Village hall, the Star pub and the Methodist church. Reports produced from them all.
2010
Energy saving Trust video made in Wenhaston, to show the merits of energy saving measures particularly solar water heating panels.
February "Turning the Tide" play by Open Space at Village Hall, hosted by WESG.
Second Carbon Audit taken, with final report available from April 2010.
April Second A.G.M.
Warmer Wenhaston Round 2 completed with 17 households benefitting.
December Fact finding visit to London to find out about the community group at Ashton Hayes.
2009
Febuary Talk given to Great Bealings
Much continued as 2008, e.g. Wenhaston Word newsletter and energy meter loan
Warmer Wenhaston insulation project, first stage completed with 31 households receiving free or discounted materials. Final collection at Village Hall in February.
Open Meeting held to find out what actions the village would like.
First Village Give and Take Day organised with Bright Green, with much given and taken.
Zero Waste Week, also organised with Bright Green. 11 households took part and considerably reduced their landfill waste. Workshop first with Karen Cannard, well-known zero waster.
First AGM March
Updated light bulb library made availaable for villagers' use May to July.
Visit to village from Dr. Burgess, advocate for Rural Communities and his team in July.
Visit to refurbished and energy efficient Village Hall by members of Greenprint Forum in September.
Improvements made to improve energy efficiency of Church Room in September.
Warmer Wenhaston Round 2 started November.
